My final judgement has not been passed but my feelings feel like they are solidifying in stone for this board game. But it is a story, a journey if you will, that I feel like telling. This is a tale of a board game that I am sure a lot of people will say “that’s why you don’t do Kickstarter.”
7 Wonders could be a be considered a classic and a go-to game for many gamers. It plays a lot of people, it has super, simple gameplay, and it has been around the the block for awhile. None of these factors make me think less of it…well maybe one part.
I just don’t think it is a game anymore.
I love me some board games and have a large collection. It is not as large as many people but having 100+ games is nothing to snicker at. This creates situations that are common with most people, forgetting to play all your board games!
If you are like me, you like to wear shirts with graphics on them. Typically they are of your hobbies but sometimes funny things. But have you noticed there are a lack of board game focused gear?
Why is that?
A lot of changes are happening around this group. That is why I decided to do a little update on some of the things that have information such as Game Stories and RPGs. When I have better idea on other parts, I’ll do videos addressing them.
It is safe to assume if you are reading this, you like to play board games. You probably like to play them a lot. That’s okay, so do I. Some of us are always trying to find more and more time to play board games. But is there a point where it becomes too much?
Quick question: are reviews mandatory for board game websites?
I say this because that is what everyone seems to do. Some websites only do reviews and consider that adequate content. Is that all that people want?
I got more to say about this after the jump, of course…
We got a couple things going on an April so that is on my mind. Reminder of the podcast, details on upcoming RPG stuff as well as the fun things to happen this Saturday at the event for the 5 Year Anniversary. Oh, did you know about that? I totally feel like I haven’t mentioned it yet.
Time for some more video content. Welcome to tentatively titled Nothing Fancy; a semi-often video series of chats about board games. This will range from new stuff, small topics, or cool thoughts that pop-up in my mind. Check it out!
Is there such a thing as too many games? At first glance it is easy to say no! More games means more fun means more yay. But then you think about it and realize that you don’t have the space for all the games or even (some) more games, so boo. I am curious if the right amount of games is too many.
I sometimes think about this after a big convention or going away for a fun weekend with friends. I am always worried about which games I should bring. I do try to go through a thought process of what is being played but I am afraid of leaving a good time at home. Whereas if I didn’t have as many of them, my selection of choices to bring with me would be more limited and therefore less of a “dilemma” of what to bring.
It is a vicious cycle of wanting to get the games for such an event and then accumulating too many to actually use. As a gamer, too much is a problem so I definitely think there is a thing as too many games. I was sort of stumbling upon this in the most recent episode of I Can Deal but my brain lost track. But there is too many games and I think I am approaching that point…
…or I need another bookshelf for games.
This has been “Dork Rambles,” a quick blurb about random board game thoughts I have that hopefully gets you thinking as well as I.
